"Fan Crush is anything but atypical", say creators of the new social networking hub Fan Crush Network. A place where genre fans can connect, Fan Crush is on the forefront of an explosive new kind of dating scene. "There are sites out there like Jdate.com, a site specifically for Jewish singles, and RocknRollDating.com for people who dig the rock scene. Why not a place for horror fans?"
Our client, who has over 20 years experience in and around the horror film industry, recognized a need when fans were observed standing in line alone at horror conventions. The observation sparked an idea; what if there was a place where people who are immerged into the horror scene could meet others with similar interest? Why not other genres, like sci –fi, fantasy, and anime? Pixascope met the challenge of actualizing the Fan Crush Network will full creative force.
Core Competencies
The Fan Crush Network is a matchmaking service for fandom, giving fans of genre fiction an alternative to sites such as eHarmony and Match.com. Another advantage allows FCN to extend itself as a social hub for fans to interact regarding movies, literature, and events in a community environment.
Designing the Brand
In order to appeal to the appropriate fan base, we developed an iconic brand that captures the essence of contemporary science fiction, horror, anime and fantasy. Art direction underwent several stages to blend vibrant fun with clever graphics, while incorporating an enjoyable user experience.
The Infrastructure
Though built to accommodate features found in many dating sites, proprietary programming went into making the sites unique. To cross pollinate members with diverse interests while casting a wider net for search results, all four FCN sites were developed to sync with one another during signup. New members are able to opt in to any or all sites simultaneously.
The Global Response
In the fall of 2009 the Fan Crush Network officially launched and was met with frenzied feedback. Membership reached an international audience, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and the Middle East. Achieving the client’s vision of global response, Pixascope was able to deliver a project that exceeded expectations.
